how did that happen?

I am not sure why I haven't wanted to post. I have had lots of fun things going on. The only bad thing is the the pednisone made me kind of crazy. No appetite and headaches to make ya want to blow your head off. The up side of all this is the I weigh in at 179.8 lbs. WHAT?? I am not even sure how that happened. Last week's weight was 185.6. So that is a loss of of 5.8 lbs. I got on and off the scales twice. Same thing every time. So another new low this week. I guess not eating a pound of tootsie rolls and licorice really pays off. We will see if it's a sick weight loss or not come next Wed.

We had a surprised 21st Birthday party for my son Saturday night. It was really fun, but he spotted some body's car down the street, so he wasn't "that" surprised. BOOO!

    So glad to hear from you! I was about to send out an APB! I've heard nasty things about prednisone - and most of them involved weight gain! You are a scientific anomoly!

    Glad to hear from you!!! And what is up with the prednisone loss??? When I was on it (years ago), almost overnight I ballooned up AND got a hump on my back...it was quite lovely.

    Great pic of you & Gson! and I love your son's surprisedness. :)

    I've been on Prednisone for the past 2 weeks and have gained a few and I'm super puffed up all over.
    How the hell did you pull that weight loss off? You're SuperHuman, Woman!!! Congrats!!!

Contentment at last

Oh my goodness!!  I can't beleive how long it's been since I haave posted here.  So maybe things have changed.  The month I moved in with my son and daughter in law, a friend from high school asked if I wanted to be a "Granny Nanny" for her 86 year old mother.  It would mean moving back to my home town and living with the woman.  I didn't hesitate.  I had a good feeling about it from the start, so I went for it.  So, as of the first of October I have been residing in a cozy little home in Orem, UT.  The woman is just a sweetheart.  So easy to please and I feel so comfortable.  The pay is great too.  I like living with someone and it has just been a win/win.  I love my surroundings.  I love the mountains, the memories, being around my extended family.  My sister lives here, as does my aunt, a ton of cousins on both sides of the family.  Of course the downside is I am away from my kids and my grandkids.  I miss them terribly, but at the same time I feel like this

A Traditionally Built Woman

I am listening to the latest No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency books. Blue Shoes and Happiness. They are sweet simple stories about a woman in Botswana Africa. She is a "traditionally built" woman. This means of course that she is heavy. I have never seen the show on HBO, but I love the books. In this book she decides to go on a diet. All her litle "insights" about going on a diet are cute....and so true. My favorite is how it's human nature that when you decide to restict ANYTHING you always end up wanting more of it. How she thought that was funny, until she herself was on a diet, now not so funny. How she gets crabby when she's hungry. I could so relate and it made me smile. People, we are more alike then we are different. The book is written by a white man, which I think is great. See, more alike then we are different. I have my grandkids birthday party today. Dana Does Cancer

Good Morning! It's been a long time since I used this blog. I've decided that I had so much success using this blog as a tool to lose 100 pounds, I'm going to blog my way as I fight cancer To The Best of My Ability. Yep, it looks like I have rectal cancer. There is a 20 mm tumor in the old poop shoot. Just shows Heavenly Father has a sense of humor. Seems a fitting consequence for being an asshole for the first half of my life. (my two children will verify this) The good news it's not gone to the lymph nodes per the CT scan, I will get the results of a PET scan, along with a port for chemo Monday or Tuesday. And so it begins... I have every reason to be optimistic. It's still early. I'm still  going to need radiation and chemo to shrink the tumor and wait 5-6 weeks and have a resection, then more chemo is needed. I am grateful for health insurance, though I can't work for at least six months, maybe more. When I went to the surgeon on Friday he told me I
