Not Giving Up....EVER

My sister sent a CD with some more wedding pics. This is my absolute fave. It reminds me of what a wonderful night that was. Things are going great. I have been super tired the past couple of days. Too many 2:30 wake ups. Then can't fall back to sleep. Slept till 6:30 this morning. Heaven. I have been eating right and walking walking walking. Need to up the H2O. It's getting hot here. 94 degrees the other day. It seems so weird that it's snowing in some areas. My sister that lives in Tokyo will be coming for a 2 week visit. Her MIL passed away. It was a blessing. I think we might take a road trip to Utah to visit my other sister. I love a road trip! Nothing new on the job front. I just keep looking. And praying. My past haunts me when it comes to background checks. So my selection is limited. I never had a problem finding a job before. With the economy the way it is, it's much harder. There are too many other applicants that don't have a criminal background. I have never had the money to get my charges squashed. It's a couple $1000. It never really mattered, cause like I said, I could always find a job. Time to get to work on that. Still feeling positive. Something will happen for me. I just need to stay positive and do the next right thing. Giving up is not an option. EVER. Today will be spent here lds.org. It is my church's world wide General Conference. Our church leaders give uplifting messages and instruction for a better life. I encourage you to take a look. You can watch anytime in the archives. I always come away from listening to Conference renewed and with fresh resolve to be a better person. Laced up the shoes and I am going to take a walk. Have a good Sunday. Keep the mood and the food real.................

    Hope you have a wonderful day, Dana. Pebbles' MIL feels the same way about the General Conference.

    I always admire your positive attitude. You are an inspiration and you are right - giving up is never an option.

    Your pending road trip with your sisters sounds like so much fun. What a great thing to look forward to!

    How sweet is that photo - I love it!

    I think 2:30 must be the witching hour. I swear to you that is when I wake up almost every night, no matter what time I've gone to bed. Makes for a hard go when I'm trying to get up at 4:15 so I can get a run in. Here's to both of us getting some better sleep!

Contentment at last

Oh my goodness!!  I can't beleive how long it's been since I haave posted here.  So maybe things have changed.  The month I moved in with my son and daughter in law, a friend from high school asked if I wanted to be a "Granny Nanny" for her 86 year old mother.  It would mean moving back to my home town and living with the woman.  I didn't hesitate.  I had a good feeling about it from the start, so I went for it.  So, as of the first of October I have been residing in a cozy little home in Orem, UT.  The woman is just a sweetheart.  So easy to please and I feel so comfortable.  The pay is great too.  I like living with someone and it has just been a win/win.  I love my surroundings.  I love the mountains, the memories, being around my extended family.  My sister lives here, as does my aunt, a ton of cousins on both sides of the family.  Of course the downside is I am away from my kids and my grandkids.  I miss them terribly, but at the same time I feel like this

A Traditionally Built Woman

I am listening to the latest No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency books. Blue Shoes and Happiness. They are sweet simple stories about a woman in Botswana Africa. She is a "traditionally built" woman. This means of course that she is heavy. I have never seen the show on HBO, but I love the books. In this book she decides to go on a diet. All her litle "insights" about going on a diet are cute....and so true. My favorite is how it's human nature that when you decide to restict ANYTHING you always end up wanting more of it. How she thought that was funny, until she herself was on a diet, now not so funny. How she gets crabby when she's hungry. I could so relate and it made me smile. People, we are more alike then we are different. The book is written by a white man, which I think is great. See, more alike then we are different. I have my grandkids birthday party today. Dana Does Cancer

Good Morning! It's been a long time since I used this blog. I've decided that I had so much success using this blog as a tool to lose 100 pounds, I'm going to blog my way as I fight cancer To The Best of My Ability. Yep, it looks like I have rectal cancer. There is a 20 mm tumor in the old poop shoot. Just shows Heavenly Father has a sense of humor. Seems a fitting consequence for being an asshole for the first half of my life. (my two children will verify this) The good news it's not gone to the lymph nodes per the CT scan, I will get the results of a PET scan, along with a port for chemo Monday or Tuesday. And so it begins... I have every reason to be optimistic. It's still early. I'm still  going to need radiation and chemo to shrink the tumor and wait 5-6 weeks and have a resection, then more chemo is needed. I am grateful for health insurance, though I can't work for at least six months, maybe more. When I went to the surgeon on Friday he told me I
