Dance


This is what my L.L.is doing right now. Dancing. She owned a dance studio till she went back to school at age 55 to get her Phd in psychology. She passed away this afternoon. We had a glorious last day. We took a long walk this morning. Me pushing the wheelchair, her telling me over and over thank you. Talking about the neighbors. Then we went for a car ride. We looked at tulips. We did "drive bys" I call our friends in our congregation then we pulled up in front of their house and they run out, usually with their kids, to say a quick hello to her. We have had so much fun doing that this week. Then we came down to my place and she helped me plant flowers. Telling me how beautiful they were going to be. I took her home and went to get some lunch after I got off. Something told me to drop back over. The woman that works nights had called me for help. L.L. slipped through the veil surrounded by her children. I am really going to miss her. I am sad for me. I am glad for her.


I will be okay. Life is still wonderful. I still fell like good things are just around the corner. I will start looking for another job tomorrow. Life as wonderful as it is, still marchs on.


Keep the mood and the food......and live each day like it's your last.

    Oh...what a lovely last day! I think you said it best "sad for her and glad for her" - she will be missed, for sure. I'm sorry, Dana...I know you will miss her.

    What a gift you gave her, Dana. Wonderful last days. I hope to be so lucky. Goodness like yours will be rewarded. The next great thing for you is just around the corner, I truly believe.

    You were such a wonderful friend and gift to her Dana. I hadn't read this when I sent the email to you I'm so sorry about your lose. I know you will be ok you always are. What a wonderful last day you gave her. *hugs and love*

Contentment at last

Oh my goodness!!  I can't beleive how long it's been since I haave posted here.  So maybe things have changed.  The month I moved in with my son and daughter in law, a friend from high school asked if I wanted to be a "Granny Nanny" for her 86 year old mother.  It would mean moving back to my home town and living with the woman.  I didn't hesitate.  I had a good feeling about it from the start, so I went for it.  So, as of the first of October I have been residing in a cozy little home in Orem, UT.  The woman is just a sweetheart.  So easy to please and I feel so comfortable.  The pay is great too.  I like living with someone and it has just been a win/win.  I love my surroundings.  I love the mountains, the memories, being around my extended family.  My sister lives here, as does my aunt, a ton of cousins on both sides of the family.  Of course the downside is I am away from my kids and my grandkids.  I miss them terribly, but at the same time I feel like this

A Traditionally Built Woman

I am listening to the latest No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency books. Blue Shoes and Happiness. They are sweet simple stories about a woman in Botswana Africa. She is a "traditionally built" woman. This means of course that she is heavy. I have never seen the show on HBO, but I love the books. In this book she decides to go on a diet. All her litle "insights" about going on a diet are cute....and so true. My favorite is how it's human nature that when you decide to restict ANYTHING you always end up wanting more of it. How she thought that was funny, until she herself was on a diet, now not so funny. How she gets crabby when she's hungry. I could so relate and it made me smile. People, we are more alike then we are different. The book is written by a white man, which I think is great. See, more alike then we are different. I have my grandkids birthday party today. Dana Does Cancer

Good Morning! It's been a long time since I used this blog. I've decided that I had so much success using this blog as a tool to lose 100 pounds, I'm going to blog my way as I fight cancer To The Best of My Ability. Yep, it looks like I have rectal cancer. There is a 20 mm tumor in the old poop shoot. Just shows Heavenly Father has a sense of humor. Seems a fitting consequence for being an asshole for the first half of my life. (my two children will verify this) The good news it's not gone to the lymph nodes per the CT scan, I will get the results of a PET scan, along with a port for chemo Monday or Tuesday. And so it begins... I have every reason to be optimistic. It's still early. I'm still  going to need radiation and chemo to shrink the tumor and wait 5-6 weeks and have a resection, then more chemo is needed. I am grateful for health insurance, though I can't work for at least six months, maybe more. When I went to the surgeon on Friday he told me I
